Director of Softball Coach Kathy Riley is a native of Dayton Ohio,
She got her BA in Science: Physical Education from ECU in 1981
and a Master's in Education with a concentration in Psychology
/ Education Psychology/ Sociology from North Texas State University in 1982.
As an athlete Coach, Riley achieved numerous awards including:
- 1995 ECU Hall of Fame inductee
- 1981 Broderick award winner at ECU
- Dual Division 1 athlete (Softball & Basketball)
- Olympic Sports Festival Gold Medal Winner
- 1991 USSSA Softball Hall of Fame inductee
During her years in the college arena as Head Softball Coach for Longwood University
Kathy Riley acquired an amazing record of 812-488-1 in Division 1.
- 5 NCAA regional appearances in 2013,2015,2016,2017,2019
- 5 Big South Conference Tournament Champion
- 3 x Big South Coach of the year

Assistant Director of Softball Kayla Miller is a native of Houston, Texas,
got her BA in Liberal Studies
with a concentration in Education from Longwood University in 2007
As an athlete Coach, Miller achieved numerous awards including:
- Olympic Sports Festival Gold Medal Winner
During her years in the college arena as assistant softball Coach for Longwood University Kayla Miller
help the team to accomplish
-5 NCAA regional appearances in 2013,2015,2016,2017,2019
-5 Big South Conference Tournament Champion

Sami Byerly is a native of Powhatan, VA. She got her BA in Liberal Studies
with a concentration in Leadership Studies from Longwood University in 2020
As an athlete, she was the starting centerfielder as a freshman in 2015 at Virginia Wesleyan and achieved 2nd team All ODAC Conference. In high school she was a First Team All-State Catcher.
Sami has been an assistant coach for Powhatan High School Varsity since 2017.
